Laser Dentistry

Laser therapy in dentistry provides patients with a more comfortable dental treatment experience. Using laser therapy, the Granby Dental Center is able to deliver a more precise treatment that is more comfortable, quicker, and provides more stunning results for their patients.

Benefits of laser dentistry

There are several benefits to receiving a laser therapy dental treatment, including:

  • Many laser treatments do not require anesthesia, and the recovery time is much quicker than with traditional treatment methods.
  • Treatments are comfortable.
  • There is less of a chance of bacterial infection because laser treatments are so precise.

Two types of laser dentistry

There are two different types of laser dentistry, hard tissue and soft tissue. Hard tissue includes treatments such as cavity detection, dental fillings, and improving tooth sensitivity. Soft tissue treatments include treating gum disease, gum reshaping and improving muscle attachment.

The LANAP procedure for treating gum disease is an exciting new treatment modality that replaces the cutting, stiches and pain normally associated with gum surgery. It can effectively treat gum disease problems and establish ideal conditions for healing the gums around teeth that have periodontal pockets.

The PerioLase® MVP-7 laser now gives us a gentle and effective way to stop the damage being done by the infections in the gums. Patients who have had this form of laser treatment report that they have little or no discomfort after the procedure. We are proud to be among the first of the growing number of dental offices in the country to provide this breakthrough laser treatment to our patients.

Procedures such as removing benign oral cancers, nerve regeneration, overcoming sleep apnea, teeth whitening, and TMJ treatment are also considered laser dentistry treatments.
